Toyota Etios sedan launch prices 4 variants, prices start at Rs. 4.96 lakh Toyota gears up for Etios launch in India on Wednesday

The wait is over. Toyota Kirloskar Motors has launched the Etios sedan (petrol) at prices ranging from Rs. 4.96 lakhs to Rs. 6.86 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), across four variants.

Toyota Motor Corporation President Akio Toyoda was present at the launch in Bangalore and announced the prices of the car.

The Etios concept was first shown at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010 and the company has invested Rs. 3,200 crore on the Etios project as it is especially designed for India and then may be exported to the world. Related: Toyota Etios hatchback and sedan: All we know

The Toyota Etios is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 90 PS of maximum power and 140 Nm of peak torque. The gear box is a 5 speed manual. The 930 kg kerb weight of the Etios makes it one of the lightest sedans to be made in India. Fuel Efficiency is 17.6 kmpl* (claimed) and the fuel tank capacity is 45 litres giving it a range of 700 km on a full tank.

The Etios will be available in four trim levels namely the J, G, V and VX and in six attractive colors: Symphony Silver, Harmony Beige, Serene Bluish Silver, Vermilion Red, Celestial Black and White. Toyota Etios comes with black interiors for J and G trim levels, black and grey for V variant and black and red for the VX (top variant).

The Etios Liva, the hatchback version, will be launched in April 2011 and the bookings for the Etios sedan starts today with a booking price of Rs. 50,000 across all showrooms.

All Radia tapes should be made public apex court told Niira Radia tapes became public after Ratan Tata

The government is looking at how the Niira Radia tapes became public, after Ratan Tata, chairman of the Tata group that is represented by Radia, approached the Supreme Court to protect his privacy.

The Supreme Court was Tuesday told that the transcripts of corporate lobbyist Niira Radias telephonic conversations relating to the 2G spectrum allocation scandal should not be held back from the public gaze as the people had a right to know how officials were functioning.

“People have a right to know what the public officials were doing," senior counsel Prashant Bhushan told an apex court bench of Justice G.S. Singhvi and Justice A.K. Ganguly.

Bhushan, who appeared in the apex court for the Centre for Public Interest Litigation, told the court that the intercepts were a telling commentary on how things were done in the government.

“I have just filed 104 conversations," Bhushan said, adding that there was an attempt that transcripts of 5,851 intercepts do not see the light of the day.

He said that people have a right to know about every transaction and conversation in the spectrum scandal.

The senior counsel told the court that these tapes revealed how corporate lobbyist Radia had access to nearly every bureaucrat and could get any information.

Bhushan said she was trying to manipulate the proceedings of parliament so that a particular corporate house could benefit to the tune of Rs.81,000 crore in tax concessions.

The court said: "In a way, you are trying to say that she is virtually controlling the parliamentary proceedings."

When Bhushan described Radia as a wheeler dealer, the court observed: “According to her she is a consultant and according to you she is wheeler dealer.”

New Delhi, Nov 30 – India’s external affairs ministry has refused to comment on the leak of secret US diplomatic cables, but asserted that it continues to have a ‘candid’ dialogue with the United States on various issues.

‘We would prefer not to comment on the issue of Wikileaks which purportedly are an account of privileged internal US government assessments and correspondence,’ said external affairs ministry spokesperson Vishnu Prakash.

The US has already reached out to India following WikiLeaks’ embarrassing disclosures that was condemned by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as the American envoy in India assured New Delhi that it welcomes its ‘greater global leadership’ role in the world.

‘We have a multi-faceted and forward looking strategic partnership with the United States and there is a regular, open and candid dialogue between the two countries, on a number of matters of mutual interest,’ asserted Prakash.

Clinton Monday branded the leaks as an ‘attack on the international community’, saying the illegal disclosure of secret information ‘puts people’s lives in danger, threatens our national security and undermines our efforts to work with other countries to solve shared problems’.

‘This disclosure is not just an attack on America’s foreign policy; it is an attack on the international community, the alliances and partnerships, the conventions and negotiations that safeguard global security and advance economic prosperity,’ she said.

In New Delhi, US Ambassador Timothy Roemer said: ‘The United States welcomes a greater global leadership role for India and values its perspectives on how to meet common challenges, including countering terrorism, securing our maritime domains, and working together to promote democratic, political and economic development around the world.’

He said US President Barack Obama during his recent visit to India had described relations with India as one of the ‘defining partnership of the 21st century’.

Google has announced the release of Google Earth 6. The latest version is available for Windows, OS X and Linux.

Google Earth 6, which incorporates a more seamless Street View experience and adds 3D trees.

Google added Street View to Google Earth in 2008, but to see the Street View imagery, you’d have to click on a camera icon layered over the Google Earth imagery. Now, Street View is fully integrated with the product, so users can zoom in and see 360-degree, street-level images automatically.

Pegman, the orange icon used to navigate Street View, is also now docked alongside the Google Earth navigation controls.

“Just pick up Pegman and drop him wherever you see a highlighted blue road to fly right down to the ground. Once there, you can use the navigation controls or your mouse to look around,” Peter Birch, a Google product manager, wrote in a blog post. “And unlike our earlier Street View layer, you can now move seamlessly from one location to another as if you’re walking down the street by using the scroll-wheel on your mouse or the arrow keys on your keyboard.”

Hit the “exit” button to return to the aerial view.

Also new in Google Earth 6 is 3D trees. “While we’ve just gotten started planting trees in Google Earth, we already have more than 80 million trees in places such as Athens, Berlin, Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Tokyo,” Birch wrote.

To see the trees, turn on the 3D buildings layer on the left side panel. One location that has the 3D trees is the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. “Click the zoom slider, [and] you’ll then be taken down to the ground where you can use our new ground-level navigation to walk among the trees,” Birch said.

In October, Google added WWII images to the historical layer on Google Earth. Version six makes it easier to discover these and other historical images.

“When you fly to an area where historical imagery is available, the date of the oldest imagery will appear in the status bar at the bottom of the screen,” Birch wrote. “If you click on this date, you’ll instantly be taken back in time to view imagery from that time period.”

Born June 16, 1973 in Burbank, California, Eddie Cibrian was raised in the San Fernando Valley. The only child of Carlos and Hortensia Cibrian, both of Cuban descent, Eddie Cibrian became interested in acting at the age of 13 when he found out that a fellow classmate had broken into the business doing commercials. After discussing it with his parents, Eddie landed an agent and booked seven commercials over the next two years, landing a national Coca-Cola commercial on his very first audition. While he enjoyed the work, the auditions prevented him from participating in school sports. A natural athlete, Eddie decided to put his acting career on hold in favour of joining the high school football team.

After graduating from Montclair High School, Eddie Cibrian enrolled as a Business/Economics major at UCLA and took on a part-time job to make ends meet. However, he missed the challenge and excitement of working in the entertainment industry, and shortly afterwards decided to give acting another shot. Document Identification Number DIN Number New ID for Tax Payer

The taxpayers as well as collectors will have to mention a unique Document Identification Number (DIN) with their communication with the Income Tax (I-T) department.

The Document Identification Number (DIN) is on the lines of the existing Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Tax Deduction Account number (TAN).

According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Document Identification Number/DIN will be compulsory with respect to every notice, order, letter or any tax-related communication, including the filing of returns for the financial year 2010-11.

The Document Identification Number (DIN) will be generated by the I-T department and will distribute the numbers to assessees soon.

Interestingly, the Income tax officials will also be allotted the numbers to streamline the tax filing process. Thus, the taxpayers and the tax officials will have to mention the DIN on every communication. Any communication without DIN will be considered no communication.

DIN is expected to be useful for an error-free filing of returns and claiming refunds by the tax payers. A new Section 282B (in the Finance Act, 2010, ) was inserted for the allotment of DIN. The new section has come into effect from October 1, 2010.

Under the provisions of the section 282B of the Finance Act, 2010, every I-T official shall allot a computer-generated DIN in respect of every notice, order, letter or correspondence issued by him to any other income tax authority, assessee, or any other person and such number shall be quoted thereon. It further says, “the document, which does not bear DIN shall be treated as invalid and be deemed never to have been issued. The same applies for the documents received by an I-T authority, or on behalf of such authority”.

It is certainly a welcome move by the tax department as DIN aims at bringing more transparency in tax administration but it will pose a great challange for the tax administrators as it involves a number of documents and pro formas.

In the post-Mandal era, Lalu Prasad seems to have been replaced for good in Bihar. JDU led Bihar government has geared up for the upcoming assembly election due in October/November 2010.

The 42 months rule of JDU led government appears uneasy in its relationship but it needs the 55 MLAs to keep his government afloat. With another 18 months left in its five year tenure, the government has approved a Rs 815 crore ambitious project for Mahadalits (a separate category for 18 sub-castes of dalits). The steps taken for empowerment of extremely backward castes (EBCs), Mahadalits and minorities benefited Nitish led government in the Lok Sabha elections.

His focus on Pansmanda Musalaman (i.e. backward Muslim community) is also quite strategic in dividing the Muslim vote banks like he has divided Dalits and Hindus. Reopening of Bhagalpur riots also is aimed at the same.

He has got Ali anwar and Dr Ezaj Ali sent to Rajya sabha as well as a crucial signal to the Muslim community.

Nitish Kumar is seeking special category status for Bihar and has made it a huge public issue.

Ram Sundar Das, a former chief minister joined the JDU just before the Lok Sabha elections. He defeated Ram Vilas Paswan who had retained Hazipur seat in eight elections. Das had lost the chief minister’s job to Lalu Prasad Yadav in 1990. Janata Dal had won the most seats in Bihar Assembly. Lalu Prasad ruled Bihar for 15-year until Nitish led coalition defeated him 2005.

In the recently held Lok Sabha elections Ranjan Prasad Yadav of JDU defeated Lalu Yadav.

Nitish Kumar has focused on the EBCs (includes many poorest sub-castes), which account for over 20 percent of Bihar’s eight crore people. He has introduced a 20- percent reservation for them in village panchayats.

Trains numbers will undergo change in their train numbers with effect frtrainom December 20. Those booking their tickets for dates either online or at the stations need to check the numbers. As per the Railway Board's order all existing numbers of trains have been renumbered with five-digit numbers, replacing 4-digit ones. Some trains that had alphabets had been totally converted into numerical.
All express trains will take a pre-fix of digit one (1) and depending on the category of the trains like passenger and special trains different number is prefixed. For example, the daily train krishna express No. 7406/7405 has been re-numbered as 17406/17405 and Bhubaneswar – Tirupati Special Train No. 0871/0872 has been re-numbered as 08471/08472.

Brahma is the creator of the universe. He has created plants,animals, sea, mountains and the human being. Mythology states that humans created from the 'mouth' portion of Brahma were Brahmins, those from arms were 'Kshatriyas', those from the thighs were 'Vaishyas' and those from the feet were 'Shudras'. He asked 'Surya' to take care and protect the universe and himself went into deep meditation for ten thousand of years.

Thereafter when he opened his eyes he saw an illustrious man with broad shoulders, eyes like a lotus, long neck and carrying a pen and inkpot in the hands. Brahma asked that man who he was. The man replied that he was born out of Brahma and asked to give him a name and allocate duties. Brahma told him that as he was born out of his body (kaya) he would be classed as 'Kayastha' and he would be called by the name of 'Chitragupt' on the earth. He was asked by Brahma to perform his duties of keeping an account of every person good and bad deeds in the offices of Dharma Raj, supposed to be situated in 'Yampuri'.

Chitragupta was also blessed to produce his progency.

He had twelve sons and named as follows:-

Srivastava, Surajdwaj, Nigam, Kulshreshth, Mathur, Karna, Saxena, Gaud, Asthana. Ambasht, Bhatnagar and Bulmik.

Thus as the story goes 'Chitragupta' was the progenitor of us, the Kayasthas, and it is therefore our duty to worship him and offer our Prayers.

Puja Process
Place of worship is first cleaned. Seep chalk & Swastika is drawn on the ground or on some wooden board. A satia is drawn and is decorate by drawing lines on all the four sides. On this the god or goddess to be worshipped is placed. Vermilion is applied on the foreheads of god or goddess idols or photograph.

Earthen lamp or any other type of lamp is lit. In the pooja Vermilion paste, rice, aepen & water in small vessel is kept. These preparation are done little ahead of conducting pooja.
For performing pooja the ring finger is used for dipping and sprinkling water, vermilion, aepen. First the pooja is performed with water then aepen and roli (vermilion) then little rice is touched to the eyes and offered to the god or goddess.
The pooja offerings are done three time each (Sprinkle water ,aepen, roli and chawal )three time each.

The Met department has issued a “severe weather warning”, along with a cyclone alert for Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and, possibly, Orissa.

Named Laila, the tempest is coasting towards the mainland, speeding between 95 and 100 kmph, but is unlikely to hold up the monsoon, a weather bureau official said.

The June-September monsoon, whose onset was declared on Monday, is critical for India, as two-thirds of Indians depend on farm income.

The “agromet” wing, which monitors farm weather, said deepening westerly winds were in fact aiding the monsoon.

“Sea conditions will be very rough off Andhra Pradesh coast and north Tamil Nadu coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea off these coasts,” the weather alert stated.

Deadly tropical storms frequently take off from the Bay of Bengal during India’s summer months.

In April, a Nor'wester -- another Bay of Bengal storm system -- tore through Bihar and Bengal, killing over 100. Last year’s cyclone Aila was West Bengal’s worst disaster in decades, killing 128 and leaving thousands of survivors with nothing.

State governments are being constantly updated, a weather bulletin said.

Traditionally, Met gives cyclones feminine names, like Aila and Laila, to attract media interest, so that they spread the warning.
