If you spend as long as I do passively connected to instant messenger networks, particularly Facebook chat, then you may be interested in hearing about a free Facebook chat client named Chit Chat for Facebook.
Chit Chat for Facebook is a novel chat client that permits users to access Facebook chat from their computers without using a web-browser – an application such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome. The functionality list of the dedicated Facebook chat client, Chit Chat, includes much of what you’d expect to find in an instant messaging application: chat logging, smileys, sound alerts and text formatting.

However, Chit Chat also features functionality that you wouldn’t normally find in a messaging client, for example: music status alert support (creates a list on Facebook of music that you’re listening to), boss mode (hide all instant messaging and buddy list windows by pressing Ctrl +M) and the ability to update your Facebook status.
As a self confessed computer nerd, what particularly impresses me about this Facebook client is both its reliability when connected to Facebook chat and the ease with which you can customize the client. For example, the Facebook chat client’s intuitive interface makes customizing shortcuts a breeze; I like that I can hot key between conversations with friends by pressing Ctrl and a number, and cycle through conversations by using Alt and a number.
Those less fascinated by the more geeky aspects of Chit Chat will be pleased to hear that text can be formatted bold and italic at a click of a button, and that emoticon can just as easily be inserted – there is no need to remember emoticon codes. In addition, unlike most Facebook chat clients, Chit Chat’s emoticons match up with those used on Facebook’s native browser chat. As such, when you’re sending a happy smiley face you know that a happy smiley face is received by your friend on Facebook. Although, there is nothing to stop them also using the Facebook client Chit Chat.
I would very much like to see the introduction of an auto-responder into Chit Chat in the next build, with users of the Facebook client being likely connected to Facebook much longer than the reported 55 minutes per day – it’s foreseeable that more users will leave Chit Chat connected whilst being idle on their computers.
More information regarding the Facebook messaging client Chit Chat for Facebook is available on their website (Chitchat.org.uk) alternatively; you can go here to download Chit Chat for Facebook now:

UGC NET June 2010 Results

The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research. The Test is conducted in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts the UGC-CSIR NET for other Science subjects, namely, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences jointly with the UGC. The tests are conducted twice in a year generally in the months of June and December. For candidates who desire to pursue research, the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is available for five years subject to fulfillment of certain conditions. UGC has allocated a number of fellowships to the universities for the candidates who qualify the test for JRF. The JRFs are awarded to the meritorious candidates from among the candidates qualifiying for eligibility for lectureship in the NET. JRFs are available only to the candidates who opt for it in their application forms.

The test for Junior Research Fellowship is being conducted since 1984. The Government of India, through its notification dated 22nd July, 1988 entrusted the task of conducting the eligibility test for lectureship to UGC. Consequently, UGC conducted the first National Eligibility Test, common to both eligibility for Lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship in two parts, that is, in December 1989 and in March , 1990.

The University Grants Commission have now a wider conception of the duties and responsibilities of universities. They have to provide leadership in politics administration, professions, industry and commerce. They have to meet the increasing demand for every type of higher education, literacy and scientific, technical and proffessional. They must enable the country to attain,in as short a time as possible, freedom from want, disease and ignorance, by the application and development of scientific and technical knowledge. India is rich in natural resources and her people have intelligence and energy and are throbbing with renewed life and vigour. It is for the universities to create knowledge and train minds who would bring togather the two, material resources and human energies. if our living standards are to be raised, a radical change of spirit is essential."...Dr. S.Radhakrishnan

What Is The Most Popular Sport In 2010 ?

Sports 2010

The 2010 year beholds some great sports events ; despite being different in popularity, sports websites are eager to cover these activities in terms on news, transfers, results, livescores and many other features that would make these online spots, some of the best sports websites in the world.

If we consider the FIFA World Cup 2010 for instance, we would rapidly realize that the South Africa World Cup is by far, the most important sports tournament to be held in 2010. Millions of live sports streaming viewers, several millions of TV Viewers, hundreds of thousands of World Cup Tickets sold and for sure, Millions of Dollars spent onto marketing, affiliate programs and world cup betting.

On the other hand, football known as soccer in USA and Canada will definitely attract the attention of these 2 giant nations but deep inside, we will become aware of the fact that soccer is not as popular as NHL hockey or NBA basketball. Despite all that, the most popular sports websites in the world, based in USA such as ESPN.com and SI.com, are obliged to create a big area for the world cup 2010 in South Africa for the purpose of gathering the biggest number possible of traffic and by then, attract more marketers and advertisers into their website.

ESPN, Sports Illustrated, CBS, NBC, Sawfer.com, Skysports, BBC sports, Fox Sports are all aware that Soccer will be the main event for almost 2 months; getting above it will give the competitive advantage to other websites, from where, the need to take good care of covering and broadcasting the games so users can watch World Cup live online, or at least get easily into the matchcast and match comments supplied by professional commentators. Since football livescores have become a standard panel in all sports news websites, we wouldn’t tackle it in our analysis, but we would rather stick to discussing the sports live, sports streaming, sports brands and sports authority.

Sports live has expanded and stretched from an average TV broadcasting medium towards the internet live streaming where every football fan can access a channel and watch the World Cup live, NBA live or any other match schedule in real time. The fact of watching football live online, you will benefit from accessing any kind of media, any football stats, football rumors within a click of a button, regardless of the fact that you wouldn’t have to stop working or playing or chatting. Everything you need is exactly in front of you, especially your sports bookmakers and their online bet on world cup panels, with the best betting odds, extra bonuses and super free and gratis rewards.

Sports brands will compete massively to take advantage during the world cup for the brand image would be seen by millions around the world; Nike Football, Adidas football, Umbro, Reebok, Asics and many more would not settle down before creating an extra brand awareness inside the customers’ head during the month of July, when live football reaches its peak throughout the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. Benefit from the football live streaming and enjoy every moment of football live and football betting.

Success-You Can Enjoy It Too!

“My grades are so lousy, how can I compete with those smarter than I?”

“I’m from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), and you know that it’s the end for me right?”

“I learn things too slowly. I am just too hopeless. Do not ask me about my future. I cannot think of it.”

These were just some of the dismal comments I received during my interactions with people I met on the streets. These were the kind of feedback these so-called low-achievers received from the society.

It’s a cruel reality that most of our societies equate academic achievements with success. However, is it true that obtaining good grades are the only road to success? No, it’s definitely not.

The race between the rabbit and the tortoise

Have you read or heard about the infamous race between the rabbit and the tortoise? Who do you think will won? Rabbit, I guess? Everyone thought the rabbit would win the race, without doubt. However, the tortoise shocked the spectators by winning the race!

How did the tortoise manage to win the rabbit?

Yes, the rabbit was much faster than the tortoise. However, it became complacent on seeing its lead over the tortoise. Hence it took a rest by a tree and fell asleep. On the other hand despite being looked down on by the crowd, the tortoise was not disheartened. It was determined to finish the race no matter how long it took him. With a focused mind, the tortoise persevered all the way, by-passed the complacent rabbit, and reached the finishing line even before the rabbit woke up to realize that it had lost the race to the tortoise.

In life, many of us may not be considered the elite, or the cream of the crop. Our grades may not make it to the mark. Our teachers, our parents, our peers, people in the society may not look favorably on us. However, do you know that we can still outshine those who’re considered the elite (rabbit) just like how the tortoise won the race against the rabbit?

Examples of successful individuals who were under-achievers

If you are doubtful about achieving success because you think you are a under-achiever. Now read the real-life, recent examples below, and get back your confidence.

Sairin Sani is a ITE graduate. He was from the Normal Stream and had little interest in his studies while he was in school. Just like many others, who performed badly at the Cambridge Ordinary Level Examination, he ended in ITE. It was supposedly the end of a promising future for him as many says. However, the hands-on training offered by ITE appealed to him greatly, and from then on, Sairin regained his confidence and gusto for learning. From ITE, Sairin advanced on to polytechnic, then to National Technical University (NTU), where he graduated with first-class honors in Mechanical and Production Engineering. And now, he is pursuing his dream career in aerospace engineering.

Mr. Tan Koon, a ITE graduate of about 17 years, graduated from ITE with a Industrial Technician Certificate in Electronics, and signed up as a regular with the Singapore Police Force thereafter. While serving his five-year bond, he pursued his Diploma in Electronics Engineering on a part-time basis. When his bond ended, he worked for a couple of years to gain more experiences before heading into business, with his business partner, Au Yong Leong Choong who is also a ITE graduate. With his determination, he managed to set up four companies specializing in IT, systems integration and trading within four years. Now, Mr. Tan Koon is a successful businessperson.

There are many more examples of individuals who made a mark for themselves despite being stigmatized by society due to their earlier poor academic achievements.

What are the factors contributing to these individuals’ successes?

These individuals have a goal in mind, they know what they want, they believe in their dreams, and they plan, take action, stay focus, welcome failure as they see failure as feedback towards success, and finally achieve success with determination and perseverance. These apply to many successful people, e.g., Thomas Edison, Bill gates, Richard and Maurice McDonald, just to name a few.

~ If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple: Know what you are doing. Love what you are doing. And believe in what you are doing. ~
Will Rogers

To sum, intelligence is not the main contributing factor towards success. What makes a successful person is what he does. It’s all within his control.

You can be successful too. It’s never too late. Ask yourself what you want. Not just any other want, but a want which you really desire and will feel regrettable if you cannot achieve it. Then ask yourself what is the purpose behind this want. Next plan and take action. The journey to success is never easy. However, you must remember this:

Successful people never say “I give up!”

Successful people never say try. They do.

Successful people think positively and always say “I can do it!”

~The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will. ~
Vince Lombardi

There is also this saying, “If there is a will, there is a way.” Do not let others put you down. Do not let the past pull you down. The more others say you cannot do it, prove to them otherwise! Let everyone know you are a gem too! Believe in yourself and your dream, focus and work towards it, and you will achieve success eventually!

~ The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself. ~

Isabel Oli denies dating cager James Yap Online

PEP Alert reported spotting James Yap and Isabel Oli in a mall and said that Isabel regularly watches the PBA games—the implication being that she watches James's games.

Friends of Isabel immediately called the GMA Artist Center artist for verification, but she was reportedly too surprised by the news to answer.

"Sa 'yo lang ako unang sumagot about this," Isabel began her phone conversation with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), when we personally texted her for clarification.

"My friends and my handler from [GMA] Artist Center texted me, nasa SCOOP BOX daw ito na nag-date daw kami ni James. Sobra naman yun, nakakahiya kay James. It's so embarrassing. Naaawa ako sa kanya na lahat na lang ng makausap niya, ili-link sa kanya."

Isabel says she was actually with her steady non-showbiz date when she saw James at the mall.

"Why kaya parang walang nakakita ng kasama ko that time? Para namang non-existent yung ka-date ko at kami lang ni James ang nakita ng nag-scoop noon. I was with somebody that time. Dahil magkakilala naman kami ni James, nagkumustahan lang kami and that was it.

"Nakakaawa na si James. I think he's been through a lot lately, 'tapos dagdag pa itong issue. He is a friend. We're both Bisaya and I have been dating someone for the past year na, and you know that."

As for Isabel's regular presence in PBA games, she explains that she has a free pass, courtesy of her brother who works for a company that owns a basketball team in the professional league.

"My brother works for Welcoat, that's why we always have free tickets kapag naglalaro sila. And ako naman talagang mahilig and huge fan of basketball, kaya sumasama ako."

James is the star player of another PBA team, B-Meg Derby Ace.

Limera1n Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 Devices

Geohot has made a dramatic return  to iPhone jailbreak scene with a complete new bootrom exploit and tool to pwn all current iOS devices on iOS 4.1 for life! He has been out for months, but his return is surely going to please everyone, specially the 3rd-generation iPhone and iPod touch owners who were left out by SHAtter based GreenPois0n.

limetime

This news has been confirmed by members of Chronic Dev Team on Twitter, to whom Geohot has confirmed about his return with a complete new tool dubbed as Limera1n. Chronic Dev Team of course isn’t too pleased with it, they want Geohot to save this new bootrom exploit for the future next-gen iPad 2 and iPhone 5 devices.

p0sixninja: yes, the news about geohot is true, the day after we release ETA he decides he wants a piece of the #pie

p0sixninja: and yes it is a different bootrom exploit, he wants us to use it in GP, but there’s no way we’ll make our ETA if we do

chronicdevteam: Note greenpois0n will be released as planned. if someone decides to burn a different perfectly good exploit, that is entirely on them.

    chronicdevteam: It is actually him.

chronicdevteam: because his different exploit can be saved for new iphone / ipad / ipod, AND 3G S, you’d just have to wait a little longer

cdevwill: [7:45pm] geohot: eh, i’ll just steal your exploit [7:45pm] geohot: and beat you to the release Sounds like a nice guy.

Geohot seems to have timed it to perfection. 10/11/10 (October 11), the ETA of limera1n is exactly one year after blackra1n was released to public for iOS 3.1.2.

StealthBravo: The significance of 10/11/10 is that its the one year anniversary of blackra1n’s release. 10/11/10 is the targeted release of limera1n

So what do you guys think about this? Should Geohot save his exploit for the next-generation iOS devices? Or should he just go ahead and release Limera1n on 10/11/10, that is right after Chronic Dev Team has released GreenPois0n? Let us know what you think about this in the comments section below.

UPDATE 1: MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team now chips in to confirm Geohot’s return, and the all-iOS 4.1 jailbreak tool Limera1n

As dramatic as geohot’s last-minute all-device JB is, still a shame that two bootrom holes will be burned at once.

Anglo Chinese Junior College Hit By Video Scandal

am seldom surprised by ragging photos or videos, having been sanitised via my own experiences. Coming from an all-boys secondary school and having been through NS, I seen my fair share. However the screen grabs below from two ragging videos I saw on youtube truly disturbed me. In the past, there were no digital camera or camcorder to record down the process, but with the advent of technology, such activities are often recorded and the videos or photos end up online, causing further humiliation to the victims. The two videos mentioned are particularly shocking to me because of two factors. First of all, the perpetrators are practically all females, with a few boys in the background cheering. I never knew women are into such cruelty as well. Second, it occurred in bright daylight at a crowded school canteen – where everybody can see! The poor victim was tied to a chin-up bar and attacked mercilessly. All in the name of “celebrating” her birthday.
The school where all these took place is a well-reputed school – Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC). (No point in concealing the school’s identity as the uniform of the students involved is obvious)
Female bullies
Female bullies
When the poor victim was first grabbed by her group of “friends”, she protested that she was wearing a skirt and may zaogeng. Instead of letting her go, they forced her to put on her PE shorts. The victim was then dragged unwillingly from the crowded canteen to a nearby chin-up bar to be tied up for the ensuing ritual.
Forced to put on PE shorts
Forced to put on PE shorts
When she shouted for them to stop, they took a masking tape and stuck it over her mouth. A girl even hit her on the forehead to pin her down.
Shut her up!
“Shut her up!”
When she started crying… they smashed her face with cakes and poured milk over her head. Quite a few times, her PE shorts was exposed in the struggle as her skirt was tugged upwards.
Got milk?
Got milk?
When she said she cannot see because the grue got in her eyes, they poured water over her and threw more icky foodstuff at her face.
Enjoy this!
“Enjoy this!”
Then, ironically… they circled around her and sang her a birthday song,. The group was laughing merrily all the way, seemingly oblivious to their friend’s sorry state. WTF????? There was even a girl who had the cheek to ask the victim if she is “happy or not”!
Left on her own
Left on her own
After all these, they walked away, leaving the wet and dirty victim begging for mercy with her hands tied to the poles, seated in an awkward position. To make things worse, the entire process is recorded down and the video is even uploaded onto youtube. If the victim was my sister or girlfriend, I will report the whole incident to the police as a molestation case. This is seriously demeaning. I mean… I can understand wanting to sabo your friend on her birthday, but obviously, the line of decency has be crossed here. Did the perpetrators even stop for a moment to think how they themselves would feel if they were in the victim’s shoes? To get tied up in public; risking upskirt exposure; have food and milk smashed all over you; worse of all – have the entire humiliating video uploaded online for the world to see.
What is wrong with our youths these days?
Previously, I blogged about how I came across a series of videos uploaded by a bunch of St Andrew’s boys spanking their friend’s butt and attacking his crotch. I do not know if their videos came to the attention of the school authorities or the boys grew up and felt guilty over what they have done to their friend – all the videos have been removed from youtube.
I hope this poor girl’s videos get deleted too asap. I won’t be providing the URL links to the videos. Don’t email me to ask. I hope the relevant school authorities will look into the matter and punish those involved accordingly.
Update: Since the videos have already been deleted, I can reveal more information – the video was actually titled in CAPS: “XXXXX GOT DESTROYED” and was tagged under “loser”. Would friends do this to each other?

Destroyed Loser

Kiasu Parents

There is always this long-standing saying and had often been made butt of a joke that Singaporeans are ” KIASU” and ” KIASI” ( translated ” Scared to lose” and “Scared to die  ” ). I have many friends and relatives who are Permanent Residents in Singapore. I meant no offense to them in my opening statement, just quoting a commonly known ” fact”. This perception arose mainly due to the higher demands, higher pressure  and needs of the Singapore guy to compete against one another in the small and over densely  populated country. This is a society where money and money related matters talks. This is the country who develop the concept of the 6 C’s to judge one’s level of success in society : Cash, Condominium, Cars, Credit Cards, Capital and Country Club membership. This is a country where the law of the jungle applies without exception – survival of the fittest.
So it was not a surprise to me when I came across this website : http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/
I came across this based on a news report in the local Malaysian Chinese newspaper article that quoted an example the extremes a Singaporean parent will consider when enrolling their child in kindergarten. What is the special consideration that ignited my amusement and puzzlement ? It is TOILET PAPER quality ! What – are you kidding  ?
Yes !  – parents will only consider kindergarten which supply smooth toilet paper over those that use rough recycled paper . This shows the kindergarten has quality and good sense of standards which is crucial to their child early years of education. Or is it to protect and preserve the sanctity of the young child’s butt ?
This website has articles and forum where members has signed up unashamedly to review, discuss , debate and analyze all issues  from babies to teens upbringing, education, social obligations, parenting, etc. You will be amazed at the issues discussed, some that you will not even think of. The crux of all these is just to be the best and if not, at least to keep up with the Jones’s.  If you have the time, saunter over and be convinced by not signing up as a member , it will be your greatest folly and doing a big injustice to your children.

ACJC Girls MMS Video

This is amazing. Were they both 'girl' girls or was one of them the 'tomboy' kind? Nevertheless I suppose this will be the hottest news for the next few days.

But on the other hand... I didn't know girls liked to film others' private activities in the toilet. Shame on the people filming the video, do schools still teach moral education?

JC students in trouble over toilet-sex video
Students film girls secretly and circulate it among friends
By Jeremy Au Yong

A STEAMY sex video of two first-year female students caused an uproar in Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) recently, leading to the duo leaving the school.

The students were said to have had a tryst in a school toilet, where they were filmed surreptitiously by other students.

The video was then circulated to several others in the college.

At least nine current and former ACJC students The Straits Times spoke to said they knew of the incident, with one having seen the video on his friend's mobile phone.

'What I saw disgusted me,' said the second-year student, who said he could not bring himself to continue watching the rest of the clip.

The episode, coming hot on the heels of a tragic cyber-bullying case in New York, has raised alarm bells among some child experts about how cavalier young people can be about what they post online.

In the ACJC episode, it is not clear whether or at what point the girls knew they were being filmed. The illicit meeting in a cubicle of the toilet near the canteen is said to have taken place last month.

The Straits Times understands that disciplinary action has been taken on all those involved, including stripping some of their positions in co-curricular activity groups.

In an e-mail response to queries, ACJC principal Kelvyna Chan declined to comment directly on the facts of the episode.

She would say only: 'We would like to assure you that no one has been expelled from the school. From time to time, students are involved in actions which the school does not condone.

'With all matters pertaining to discipline, we include engagement with the parents and counselling for the students. The objective is always to learn from our mistakes, do better and be wiser.'

When asked later if ACJC helped the students secure places in another school, Mrs Chan declined further comment.

A message sent by The Straits Times via Facebook to one of the girls involved was ignored. Her online profile was subsequently deleted.

The incident has been discussed over Formspring, a social media site that allows netizens to pose questions to a user.

The same girl had a Formspring site that was put up three weeks ago and she received queries and messages of support and concern.

Some told her to stay strong. Others wanted to know what she would do now.

'Where are you going next?' one asked.

She responded: 'Where the wind takes us.'

Her site has since been taken down too.

One of the girls is said to have been admitted into another junior college and will resume her studies next year.

The incident is said to be the first such case involving the school.

In 2008, however, ragging practices caused a stir after a video of an ACJC student tied up and having food stuffed in her face made it online.

For Ms Wendy Chua, a former school psychologist who now runs a life coaching company, the latest ACJC incident shows how cavalier the young are about the Internet.

'These days you often see kids freely expressing themselves on sites like Facebook with no regard to their own privacy. There is no self-censorship,' said the mother of four children aged seven to 15.

'If you don't censor what you put online about yourself, you won't censor what you post about others.'

Child experts The Straits Times spoke to compared the episode with the recent case of Rutgers University undergraduate Tyler Clementi in the United States.

Two weeks ago, the 18-year-old jumped to his death after his roommate allegedly streamed online live images of him having sex with another man.

Those interviewed said the difference between the two cases, was that the American teen had sex in his own room, whereas the ACJC girls were in a public toilet.

Psychologist Daniel Koh, of Insights Mind Centre, felt several aspects made the ACJC case especially disturbing.

First was the fact that the incident happened in a public place and involved two girls, 'something society may not accept yet'.

Then there were the actions of those who filmed what the girls did and then circulated it. Both were troubling acts, he said.

Agreeing, Dr Carol Balhetchet, director of Youth Services at the Singapore Children's Society, said that filming and circulating the incident was 'a vicious act'.

'I would almost call it aggressive intimidation,' she said.

The child experts felt that parents and counsellors need to better educate the young on the consequences of their actions.

Mr Koh said young people need to understand the power of the Internet.

'Because of the speed, it can reach a lot of people,' he said. 'The young need to know what the boundaries are.

'Even taking a picture of someone sleeping on the MRT can sometimes cross the line.'

Sexion D Assaut Propos Homophobe
