Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer delivers his keynote speech at the launch of Microsoft Online Services in Putrajaya
Hey everybody here is a wonderful news for you, Microsoft Windows 8 is under work and they will probably launch it around 2012.Trial version may be available in 2011.The news was released in a blog post on its Dutch website. The news came at the bottom of the post commemorating Windows 7's one year anniversary. This is confirmed from Microsoft KB article, but now the article changed to remove reference to Windows 8.Details of the forth coming product were leaked from a top secret, highly confidential PowerPoint presentation of Microsoft which outlines many of Windows goals and plans for the new version.
MSFTKitchen has an extensive breakdown and details of all the slides from that PowerPoint presentation. According to these leaked documents Windows 8 might feature a faster startup, an App Store, integrated web applications, improved digital media support (including AVC HD and 3D video), faster resumes from low-power states, and USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 support. Windows 8 is likely to include facial recognition (due to the increase of webcams that are integrated into computers and its latest add-on to its Xbox 360 console, Kinect). Steve BallmerSteve Ballmer hinted at UK Tech Days that Windows 8 will feature major improvements for touch usage.
On October 22nd, Steve Ballmer stated that "the next generation of Windows, would be the riskiest product Microsoft ever made" but he didn't add any details on why Windows 8 will be the "riskiest product"
