Scomi Engineering Consortium Wins RM2.6 Billion Monorail Project In Sao Paulo
June 3 (Bernama) -- Scomi Engineering Bhd and its partners, through Consortium Monotrilho Integracao, have won a RM2.6 billion monorail project in Sao Paulo, the largest city in Brazil.
In filing to Bursa Malaysia Friday, the Malaysian company said Sao Paulo Metropolitan Company awarded the project to Consortium Monotrilho Integracao following a competitive tender process.
The project covers "the design works, manufacture, supply and implementation of a monorail system for the 18-km monorail Line 17-Gold Metro of Sao Paulo served with 18 stations commencing from Jabaquara to Sau Paulo-Morumbi".
The system will include the supply of 24-car train sets consisting of three cars in each and is expected to carry approximately 252,000 passengers per day.
"The project will commence in July 2011 and is expected to be completed in 42 months," Scomi Engineering said.
Other members of Consortium Monotrilho Integracao are Andrade Gutierrez SA, CR Almeida SA Engenharia de Obras and Montagens e Projetos Especiais SA.
