Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio had a heart attack late Saturday night after his team’s victory in overtime against Notre Dame, the school said Sunday in a press release.
Dantonio, who was “resting comfortably” on Sunday and expects to make a full recovery, was admitted to the emergency room at Sparrow Hospital and had a stent placed in a blocked artery near his heart was not long after the Spartans used a daring fake field goal to win 34-31.
Dantonio went to the hospital shortly after making a bold call that led to one of the biggest victories of his career – and one of the signature moments of the season so far.
